This class serves as a lecture/lab for the development of a graphic design or art portfolio. Students learn the basic components of a creative portfolio, principles of self-promotion, and get practice presenting their work.

j-term attendance and deadline policy

2 excused absences will be allowed. Any misses in addition to 2 will mean 5 points off of final grade for each class missed. Late work will not be accepted; deadlines must be met.

  • Formulating a creative concept to create identity, differentiation, and memorability for your portfolio
  • Considering the audience when presenting a portfolio
  • Understanding the pros and cons of different presentation formats
  • Capturing work to be placed in the portfolio
  • Development of self-promotion materials
  • Executing a visual and oral presentation of a design piece

lecture/lab. In a condensed semester, students should expect to complete a reasonable body of work in a short amount of time.
